I thought that it would be useful to follow up my previous article outlining some of the recent problems with Sedo. I've had a number of discussion with the CTO and this is my take on where we've gotten to:
Issue 1
-----------------
The reason why a page may not display advertising links is if the IP address has received more than 100 views. In the case of the example I outline in the previous article this did not happen. In addition, the page was viewed and clicked on by multiple IPs (with Sedo approval) and the Sedo weblogs did not record the view or click from.
Can I suggest that in order to assist Sedo with this issue that more domainers test some of their parked domains and see if the advertising links actually end up at an advertisers home page. Make sure prior to the test that you first inform your Sedo account manager. Screen capture the results from the tests that fail and send the results through to Sedo - this should assist them in solving this matter.
Issue 2
-----------------
The blocking of iFrame code was really interesting and like issue number 1 still remains unresolved. It was not specific to any particular domain or IP address. I screen captured some data for a portfolio of over 100 domains at ParkLogic (see below). Prior to the 7th May the iFrame was used and post the 7th May it was turned off. There has now been an overall jump of 12% to the CTR. This is HUGE!
What was happening was the Sedo page was not displaying the advertising links for certain browsers while in an iFrame. If it was for all browser versions then there wouldn't be any CTR at all. Needless to say it was a good result for a ParkLogic customer :-)
What I would like is to find out if anyone else has experienced similar problems with Sedo "iFramed pages". If you are currently using an iFrame you may want to try turning it off.
